walnut bread
We have this every Christmas morning while opening our gifts with our coffee ! Wouldn't be without it. You won't believe how perfect this turns out every time ! Sounds plain but no, the flavor is wonderful !

Bread pan or 2 -21/2" cans
Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 - egg (lightly beaten)
- 1/4 cup shortening (melted) i use crisco
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts (do not chop)
How To Make walnut bread

Step 1Re-sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt. Add egg, shortening, milk and vanilla to dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened. Stir in walnuts.

Step 2Turn into a greased 9x5x3 loaf pan or divide batter between 2 greased #2 1/2 round cans. Bake 350 degrees (loaf pan) for about an 1 hr & 20 minutes. Check at 1 hr and 10 minutes, don't want to overcook it. Bake 350 degrees (#2 1/2 cans) for 1 hr & 10 min.
