tasty apple bread

This bread is a favorite in our family. It's very festive and is a wonderful breakfast bread or great for a snack. We have enjoyed this recipe many times and I even sell loaves throughout the holidays! *Eat plain or top with powdered sugar and cinnamon or even cream cheese icing and walnuts! Delish either way =)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 3 - apples peeled, cored and grated
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup walnuts (optional)

How To Make tasty apple bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  • Step 2
    Plump (rehydrate) raisins and cranberries by submerging them in a small pan of boiling water while you cream butter and sugar.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  • Step 4
    In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon. Mix into the butter mixture until moistened. Stir in the apples, syrup, cranberries and raisins. Transfer to the prepared loaf pan.
  • Step 5
    Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
