southern cornbread stuffing

This is my favorite recipe for stuffing, I got it from Paula Deen's website.

Ingredients

  • 7 slices bread, toasted
  • 1 - saltine cracker crumbs (1 sleeve)
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion
  • 7 cups chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sage, ground
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 5 - eggs, beaten
  • - pepper, black
  • 1 - pan of cornbread

How To Make southern cornbread stuffing

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, dried white bread slices, and saltines; set aside.
  • Step 3
    Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until transparent, approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Pour the onions over the cornbread mixture. Add the stock, mix well, taste, and add salt, pepper to taste, sage, and poultry seasoning.
  • Step 5
    Add beaten eggs and mix well.
  • Step 6
    Pour mixture into a greased pan and bake until dressing is cooked through, about 45 to 60 minutes.
