Worked in an Irish Restaraunt for 15 years. We made this White Soda Bread (with currants) and a Whole Wheat soda bread. The White with currants is my favorite!

Ingredients
- - 4 cups flour
- - 1 tablespoon sugar
- - 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - 1 tablespoon baking soda
- - 1 cup currants
- - 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
How To Make soda bread

Step 1Sift flour, sugar, salt, & baking soda, add currants, stir in buttermilk, mix just until flour is moistened. Knead dough approx. 10 times, turn dough on floured surface(cookie sheet) & shape into round, cut X in top (if desired). Bake at 400 until loaf is golden brown & sounds hollow when tapped. Cool completely before slice.
