sharon's quick & easy cornbread

This is a good recipe ,if you like thin, crisp bread. It is really good with fried sour kraut and soup beans aka pinto beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising corn meal
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 cup water

How To Make sharon's quick & easy cornbread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  • Step 2
    In a 12in. iron skillet add oil.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl mix meal,flour,oil from the skillet, buttermilk, and water. Pour into skillet.
  • Step 4
    Bake until edges are brown approx. 15-20 min. then turn oven to broil until golden brown. Turn onto plate and cut into small squares.
