Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk or sour milk
- 3/4 cup raisins (optional)
How To Make sandy's boston brown bread

Step 1Sift together white flour, soda, and salt.

Step 2Add whole wheat flour (do not sift).

Step 3Add brown sugar.

Step 4Add shortening. Cut in with pastry blender until mixture resembles course meal.

Step 5In another bowl, beat eggs. Add molasses and milk to beaten eggs.

Step 6Add wet mixture to the dry mixture. Add raisins - optional. Mix until all flour is dampened.

Step 7Turn into greased loaf pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.
