The American Woman's Cook Book 1946 This was my ex-husband's grandmother's cookbook. Beside this recipe she wrote "GOOD, use 1/2 recipe". This is the recipe for a whole batch. I sure do miss her.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup boiling water or scalded milk
- 2 - eggs beaten
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup cold water
- 2 - cakes yeast (see note below)
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 7 1/2 cups sifted flour
How To Make refrigerator rolls

Step 1Combine shortening and boiling water; stir until shortening is melted.

Step 2Combine eggs, sugar and salt and beat in cold water.

Step 3Soften yeast in lukewarm water.

Step 4Combine the 3 mixtures and add flour.

Step 5Cover and chill overnight. Shape, let rise and bake as for standard rolls. Makes 36

Step 6The instructions for baking standard rolls says to bake in a hot oven(425) for 15 to 20 minutes.
