This recipe was personally prepared by Vickie Crowe for the August 2015 meeting with the Curious Cuisiners. She did not state the prep time or number of servings, but I bet it serves a lot.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1-1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cup milk
  • 1-1/8 cup oil
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring (i used butternut flavoring)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2-1/4 cup sugar
  • GLAZE
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond rxtract
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract

How To Make poppy seed bread

  • Step 1
    Mix all bread ingredients (not glaze) with an electric mixer. Pour into greased bread pans (2 loaves) or one bundt pan.
  • Step 2
    Bake one hour at 350 degrees. Top will crack or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes - pour glaze over top. Put back in the oven until glaze bubbles.
  • Step 3
    Glaze - Mix all glaze ingredients together and pour over the tops of the breads.
