This recipe was personally prepared by Vickie Crowe for the August 2015 meeting with the Curious Cuisiners. She did not state the prep time or number of servings, but I bet it serves a lot.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1-1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1-1/2 c
    milk
  • 1-1/8 c
    oil
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp
    poppy seeds
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    butter flavoring (i used butternut flavoring)
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 2-1/4 c
    sugar
  • GLAZE

  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond rxtract
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    orange extract

How to Make POPPY SEED BREAD

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix all bread ingredients (not glaze) with an electric mixer. Pour into greased bread pans (2 loaves) or one bundt pan.
  2. Bake one hour at 350 degrees. Top will crack or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes - pour glaze over top. Put back in the oven until glaze bubbles.
  3. Glaze - Mix all glaze ingredients together and pour over the tops of the breads.
