This is one of the best fresh pizza dough recipes I have used.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water 110 degrees
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • olive oil

How To Make perfect pizza dough

  • Step 1
    Place the yeast and sugar in the warm water and let sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Place the yeast in a bowl and add 3 cups of flour, and mix by hand or with a stand mixer.
  • Step 3
    Add 2 more cups of flour and the salt, mix with a hook in a stand mixer for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add more flour, 1 Tbsp at a time, if the dough is too sticky. If mixing by hand, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes. The dough should pull away from the bowl and become smooth but still a little sticky.
  • Step 5
    Oil a large bowl. Roll the dough into a ball and add it to the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set in a warm place, and let rise for about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Step 6
    Push down the dough and divide it into 4 balls.
  • Step 7
    Knead each ball for about 3 minutes each and place on a baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit another hour.
  • Step 8
    Roll the dough out and place on a pizza pan and add your toppings and bake. The unused dough can be frozen for a later time.
