This recipe never fails and it's really good for fruit pies. I have had this for many years, and it has been my favorite pie crust since I've had it.

How to Make Penny Pastry Pie crust

  1. Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. ( I just use a fork.) Add ice water to moisten flour.
  2. Form into a ball. Chill for about an hour. Roll out and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. Soften butter and spread over bottom of pastry. Sprinkle sugar and flour over butter. Bake at 400 degrees until pastry is brown.
