·1 cup flour
·1/2 teaspoon salt
·1/3 cup shortening
·3 - 4 tablespoons ice water
·1/4 cup butter
·1/4 cup sugar
·1/4 cup flour
How to Make Penny Pastry Pie crust
- Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. ( I just use a fork.) Add ice water to moisten flour.
- Form into a ball. Chill for about an hour. Roll out and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Soften butter and spread over bottom of pastry. Sprinkle sugar and flour over butter. Bake at 400 degrees until pastry is brown.
