This recipe never fails and it's really good for fruit pies. I have had this for many years, and it has been my favorite pie crust since I've had it.

Crust for one pie
Ingredients
- - 1 cup flour
- - 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - 1/3 cup shortening
- - 3 - 4 tablespoons ice water
- - 1/4 cup butter
- - 1/4 cup sugar
- - 1/4 cup flour
How To Make penny pastry pie crust

Step 1Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. ( I just use a fork.) Add ice water to moisten flour.

Step 2Form into a ball. Chill for about an hour. Roll out and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.

Step 3Soften butter and spread over bottom of pastry. Sprinkle sugar and flour over butter. Bake at 400 degrees until pastry is brown.
