these pretzels are great they taste just like the ones I had from a dutch family in Chambersburg pa. They are easy to make and really good.

Ingredients

4 1/2 tsp
active dry yeast
1 1/2 c
warm water
1 tsp
salt
4 1/2 c
bread flour or artisian flour

SODA SOLUTION

1/2 c
warm water
2 tsp
soda
pretzel salt

How to Make Pennsylvania Dutch Soft Pretzels

Step-by-Step

  • 1dissolve yeast in water. add salt and flour. Knead until smooth, cover with a cloth, let rise 15 minutes.
  • 2divide dough into 16 portions. Roll each piece into narrow rolls and shape pretzels. Dip each piece in soda solution and sprinkle with salt. Plaace on greased cookie sheet. bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
