This recipe is a good treat for something a little different. It was given to me by a special friend that just happen to be Native American. Enjoy

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1T. & 1 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon melted shortening
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 cup oil for deep frying

How To Make osage squaw bread

  • Step 1
    Combine flour,salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Stir in shortening and milk. Knead dough lightly to form ball. Roll out dough on floured board. Cut into 2 inch squares. Fry 2 or 3 at a time til golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
