I found this recipe in my Grandma Williams church cookbook. I thought it was worth sharing for all you onion lovers out there.

These are very good! I like to eat these on the side with a bowl of pinto beans....yummy!

1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup sweet milk
2 cups biscuit mix
2 teasppons of poppy seeds
2 cups sweet onions, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
3/4 cup sour cream

How to Make Onion Squares


  • 1Blend egg, milk, biscuit mix, and poppy seeds.
  • 2Turn into 9x9 inch pan.
  • 3Fry onion in butter until lightly browned.
  • 4Spread onions on dough.
  • 5Beat egg with sour cream.
  • 6Spread sour cream mixture on onions.
  • 7Bake at 400 for 25 minutes.
  • 8Remove from oven.
  • 9Sprinkle a little paprika on top.
  • 10Cut into squares.
  • 11Serve warm.
