The addition of oatmeal makes these a little heartier than regular dinner rolls.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour

How To Make oatmeal dinner rolls

  • Step 1
    Place 2 cups of water in a pan and bring to a boil. Add the oatmeal and cook for 1 minute. Add the brown sugar, butter, and salt.
  • Step 2
    Pour into a stand mixer bowl with the hook attachment and let cool to 105 degrees.
  • Step 3
    Add the yeast and mix on 1. Add the flour and mix on 2 until it has come together, then lower to 1.
  • Step 4
    Knead for 10 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Step 6
    Punch down and shape into balls
  • Step 7
    Place on 2 greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise again for 1 hour.
  • Step 8
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
