Got this recipe from a Mennonite lady here in PA at a function I went to. They were so good that I had to ask her for the recipe. I have added my own touch to these great little treats by adding some jam to each piece. These could me for Breakfast, Lunch or just a snack. I hope you all try them and like them.

Ingredients

loaf of sliced white bread
1
(8) ounce cream cheese, softened
1
egg yoke
3/4 c
sugar
1/2 c
butter, melted
2 tsp
ground cinnamon
1/2 c
sugar
optional: jam of choice

How to Make Norma's Tasty Cinnamon Sticks

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix together cream cheese, egg yolk and sugar in a bowl and set aside.
  • 2Trim the crust from each slice of bread and flatten each piece as flat as you can with a rolling pin.
  • 3Spread mixture on bread. (add a dab of jam if you wish). Mix cinnamon and sugar together set aside.
  • 4Roll each slice of bread like a mini jelly roll and dip in butter and roll in combined cinnamon and sugar.
  • 5Bake at 300 for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cooled.
  • 6* may cut each cinnamon stick into three pieces and serve as hor d'oeuvres
