Got this recipe from a Mennonite lady here in PA at a function I went to. They were so good that I had to ask her for the recipe. I have added my own touch to these great little treats by adding some jam to each piece. These could me for Breakfast, Lunch or just a snack. I hope you all try them and like them.

    loaf of sliced white bread
  • 1
    (8) ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1
    egg yoke
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • ·
    optional: jam of choice

How to Make Norma's Tasty Cinnamon Sticks

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix together cream cheese, egg yolk and sugar in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Trim the crust from each slice of bread and flatten each piece as flat as you can with a rolling pin.
  3. Spread mixture on bread. (add a dab of jam if you wish). Mix cinnamon and sugar together set aside.
  4. Roll each slice of bread like a mini jelly roll and dip in butter and roll in combined cinnamon and sugar.
  5. Bake at 300 for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cooled.
  6. * may cut each cinnamon stick into three pieces and serve as hor d'oeuvres
