My husband, who is from the Northwest, never liked or ate cornbread.....so this Texas gal had to convert him!

Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 - egg
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 2/3 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 can chopped green chilies
- 1 cup milk
How To Make my husband favorite cornbread!

Step 1Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a cast iron pan (note: I have a Johnny Bread pan which has 8 sections, and you have crust on all surfaces!)

Step 2Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in your grated cheese, onions and chilies; then add your eggs, milk and oil. Mix until all ingredients are combined well.

Step 3Pour into prepared pan, bake for approx. 25 minutes or until brown on top. Let cool in pan about 5 minutes, then remove and have that butter ready!
