  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1
  • 3 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 2/3 c
    cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 can(s)
    chopped green chilies
  • 1 c

How to Make My Husband Favorite Cornbread!


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a cast iron pan (note: I have a Johnny Bread pan which has 8 sections, and you have crust on all surfaces!)
  2. Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in your grated cheese, onions and chilies; then add your eggs, milk and oil. Mix until all ingredients are combined well.
  3. Pour into prepared pan, bake for approx. 25 minutes or until brown on top. Let cool in pan about 5 minutes, then remove and have that butter ready!
