Ingredients

  • STEP 1

  • 1 c
    luke warm water
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    yeast
  • STEP 2

  • 2 c
    luke warm water
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt (heaping tablespoon)
  • 1/2 c
    saflower oil
  • STEP 3

  • 9 c
    flour

How to Make Moms Honey Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine first three ingredients and let stand 10 minutes. Stir until blended.
  2. Add next four ingredients and beat.
  3. Then stir in flour 1 cup at a time. You may need to adjust flour amount or add a little water at this point to get correct consistency. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a bowl, cover and set in a warm place to rise to double in size, 1-2 hours.

    Punch down and divide into 3 loaves. Shape and place in greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise again until rounded over top of pan, approx. 1 hour.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
