This makes 2 loaves. Yes it only has one rise. It is so easy and quick and delicious.I use 5 1/4 cups of flour and save the other 1/4 cup for the breadboard when shaping it. I throw the whole thing in my Kitchen aid I mix the dry ingredients first and then add the wet , using the dough hook I then mix it for 5 minutes. It is a sticky dough but once I put it on the breadboard with the extra 1/4 cup flour it is very easy to work with. The prep time includes the rising time, I let it rise just to the top of the pan. Bake 25-35 minutes until golden brown.

Ingredients

  • 5 1/4- 1/2 cups bread flour, all purpose works fine.
  • 1/4 cup sugar or honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 cups hot tap water

How To Make quick and easy bread

  • Step 1
Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Mix briefly and check consistency. If dough is too dry, add a little more water; if very sticky, add a bit more flour. (It's best if you leave it on the slightly sticky side.) Mix for 5 minutes. Grease or spray bread pans with Pam. Divide dough into two equal portions; shape loaves, place in pans and cover with a dish towel. Let rise 25 minutes or until the dough rises just above the rim of the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25- 35 minutes. I use 8" bread pan but a 9" inch works also
  • Step 2
For whole wheat bread, use the same recipe, substituting whole wheat flour for the white; add 1/2 c. applesauce with the hot water and oil and use 1/4 c. oil instead of 3 T. You may need to increase the mixing time a bit.
