Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest, grated
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup blueberries, fresh
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

How To Make lemon blueberry scones

  • Step 1
    PREHEAT OVEN TO 425.
  • Step 2
    PLACE PARCHMENT PAPER ON A BAKING SHEET
  • Step 3
    COMBINE FLOUR, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER, SALT & NUTMEG.
  • Step 4
    CUT IN BUTTER WITH PASTRY BLENDER UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS.
  • Step 5
    IN A MEDIUM SIZE BOWL COMBINE MILK, EGG & LEMON ZEST.
  • Step 6
    ADD MILK MIXTURE TO DRY INGREDIENTS, MIXING WITH FORK UNTIL DRY INGREDIENTS ARE MOIST AND A SOFT DOUGH FORMS. GENTLY STIR IN BLUEBERRIES.
  • Step 7
    GATHER DOUGH INTO A BALL & GENTLY KNEAD ON LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE 8 TO 10 TIMES. PLACE DOUGH ON LIGHTLY BUTTERED BAKING SHEET.

    ON PARCHMENT PAPER PAT INTO 9” CIRCLE, WITH SHARP KNIFE, CUT THROUGH DOUGH TO FORM 8 WEDGES. DO NOT SEPARATE.
  • Step 9
    BAKE UNTIL LIGHTLY GOLDEN, 20 TO 22 MINUTES. SEPARATE WEDGES. LET COOL FOR 5 MINUTES & DRIZZLE WITH GLAZE.
  • Step 10
    TO MAKE GLAZE: COMBINE POWDERED SUGAR AND LEMON JUICE UNTIL SMOOTH
