johnny's corn bread for two
My husband makes a delicious corn bread. He makes it in a little iron skillet and it is just right for the two of us. We never have any to throw away. It's very easy without a lot of fuss.

- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon self-rising flour (i do this not my husband)
- - bacon grease or oil
- - pinch of salt and a little more than a pinch of pepper
How To Make johnny's corn bread for two
-
Step 1Mix the corn meal, milk, salt and pepper together. It should be a little runny. Also if you want to put a little flour in it do so but my husband never does. In a small iron skillet have some bacon grease in it. Roll the skillet around until the sides are coated with the grease or oil. Heat oven to 450 degrees.
-
Step 2Pour batter into skillet. Spoon some of the grease across the top of the batter. Place in the oven. Brown and serve. It may not take 25 minutes it will depend on your oven. To be honest I had no idea that he baked his corn bread at 450 degrees. It always turns out perfect though and it's just enough for the two of us. I usually eat one piece and save the other one for the next day.
