This is a family recipe. In all honesty I don't know how far it goes back in my family. I received the recipe from my aunt. I love it with the caraway seeds, it can also be made without them.

2 csifted all purpose flour

2 cunsifted whole wheat flour

1 tspbaking powder

1 tspbaking soda

1/4 tspsalt

2 tspcaraway seeds

1 1/2 cbuttermilk

How To Make irish soda bread

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl combine all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in the raisins and caraway seeds.

2Add enough buttermilk to make dough that is firm, but not dry. Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth (2-3 minutes). Shape the dough in a round loaf pan and using a sharp knife slash an x 1/4" deep across the top.

3Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray, place the loaf on it and bake for 35-40 minutes or until bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
