I made a fried fish dinner yesterday and being a southern girl I had to have my hush puppies for sides and cole slaw. This is a simple recipe and I've used it for years.

Ingredients

1 cup corn meal
3/4 cup self rising flour
1 - egg
1 - finely chopped onion
- buttermilk

How To Make hush puppies

Step 1

Mix all the ingredients with enough buttermilk to moisten and drop by teaspoon into hot oil until golden brown.

Step 2

NOTE: I don't own a deep fryer so I use a medium size sauce pan (I use just for deep frying) works just as well for me. And I drop two or three at a time in the hot oil.
