granny's skillet cornbread

This cornbread has been in my family for over 100 years. Its really good if you like that brown crust on the bottom. It makes the best Cornbread Dressing. I remember when I was a kid my Daddy would crumble it into a glass and pour milk over it and eat it with a spoon!This needs to be cooked in a Iron Skillet. Recipe can be cut in half if you don't have a large iron skillet.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3/4 to 1 cups milk

How To Make granny's skillet cornbread

  • Step 1
    Add oil (about a 1/4 cup) to your Iron Skillet and place in a preheated 350 degree oven. Leave it there until you mix your cornbread.
  • Step 2
    All all Ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Pour into the hot skillet and bake for 30/45 mins
