I have finally perfected making pie crust. It took me quite a while. I wanted it to flaky and to have a butter taste. You can make this in the food processer or by hand, just don't handle it too much or it will become tough.

  • 2 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 tsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening, chilled
  • 1/2 c
    unsalted butted, chilled
  • 6-8 Tbsp
    ice water

How to Make Flaky and buttery pie crust


  1. In a glass bowl or your food processer, add your flour, salt, sugar, shortened(divided), butter(cut into inch slices) Cut in with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles small peas. Add water a tablespoon at at time until dough starts to form a ball. Divide in half, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour before using.
