Whenever I think of scones, I think of Ireland or Scotland and it makes it taste even better, lol. This is an easy recipe that your family will love you for. Make sure to serve up some good preserves with them....

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
  • 2 large eggs, one seperated and one whole
  • 3/4 cup raisins, optional
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, unwhipped

How To Make cream scones

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins, if desired. Separate one of the eggs. Reserve a small amount of egg white and set aside. Place remaining egg white in small bowl. Add second egg and cream. Whisk until blended. Add to dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on lightly floured surface. Roll out 9x6inch rectangle. Cut into 6 (3inch) squares, cut squares in half diagonally to form triangle. Brush with reserved egg white. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve split with butter, cream cheese or your favorite jam or preserves.
