This is the first thing that I ever learned how to cook. I knew when Daddy went to milk the cows in the evening that it was time to start cooking the cornbread. The recipe came off the back of aunt Jemima's corn meal many years ago.

Ingredients
- 1 cup plain cornmeal
- 3 tablespoons plain flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 - egg
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons melted bacon grease
How To Make cornbread

Step 1Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.

Step 2Add milk and egg; stirring until combined

Step 3Heat bacon drippings in a black skillet (that you are going to cook the bread) in a 450 degree oven.

Step 4Add about half the drippings to the batter and stir in.

Step 5Pour batter into a very hot black skillet and bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes or until bread is brown.
