50g/2ozbutter

375g/13ozself raising flour

1/2 tspbicarbonate of soda

250g/9ozsugar

2eggs,beaten

325ml/12ozhot water
How to Make CANADIAN MALT BREAD
- put sultanas, butter and water in a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 4 minutes. allow to cool a little.
- mix together flour, bicarbonate of soda and sugar.
- mix warm fruit mixture into flour mix.
- mix in the beaten eggs.
- grease two 450g/1lb loaf tins and put in the mixture, level the tops.
- Bake in a moderately hot oven, gas 5,375f, 390c,for 1 hour.
