Ingredients

375g/13oz
sultanas
50g/2oz
butter
375g/13oz
self raising flour
1/2 tsp
bicarbonate of soda
250g/9oz
sugar
2
eggs,beaten
325ml/12oz
hot water

How to Make CANADIAN MALT BREAD

Step-by-Step

  • 1put sultanas, butter and water in a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 4 minutes. allow to cool a little.
  • 2mix together flour, bicarbonate of soda and sugar.
  • 3mix warm fruit mixture into flour mix.
  • 4mix in the beaten eggs.
  • 5grease two 450g/1lb loaf tins and put in the mixture, level the tops.
  • 6Bake in a moderately hot oven, gas 5,375f, 390c,for 1 hour.
