The love of my life bought me a bread machine several years ago since I love to bake. I needed a loaf of french bread and thought I would play around with a recipe to see what I come up with. The recipe is a hit with my boyfriend and his father. They like it better than the store bought french bread.
1Place all bread dough ingredients in bread machine and select dough cycle.
2When cycle is complete, remove dough and roll into a 12" x 15" rectangle on a lightly floured board.
Roll up from long side and pinch seam to seal.
Fold ends under. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet that has been dusted with the cornmeal.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise 45 minutes.
3Make 4 diagonal cuts with a sharp knife across top of bread.
Bake 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
4Beat egg white, water garlic powder and italian seasonings, remove bread from oven and brush with egg wash.
Return to oven and bake an additional 5 minutes.
