Bread machine recipes haven't always turned out good loaves for me, but I found a yummy recipe and then modified it for a wheat loaf recipe that turns out a delightfully light and fluffy loaf.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water- 110 degrees
  • 3 tablespoons milk, also warmed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

How To Make bread machine autumn wheat bread

  • Step 1
    In a medium saucepan, pour water, milk, sugar, honey and oil to 110 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat and pour into bread machine container. Immediately add yeast.
  • Step 3
    Allow to set for at least ten minutes. Mixture should be foamy and bubbly.
  • Step 4
    Next add both flours and salt to bread machine.
  • Step 5
    Set to dough cycle.
  • Step 6
    Prepare two loaf pans (grease lightly).
  • Step 7
    Upon completion of dough cycle, pull dough apart into two even portions--roll into loaves and put these into the prepared pans.
  • Step 8
    Allow to raise for another 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Step 9
    Bake at 325 for approximately 25 minutes.
