My mom and dad used to go to the KOLACHE FESTAVLE in Prague ok. every summer .

Ingredients

  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 6 to 7 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 - eggs beaten
  • - poppy seeds

How To Make bohemia kolaches

  • Step 1
    Soak yeast in lukewarm water. Mix milk,sygar, and salt, stir until dissolved.
  • Step 2
    Add 3/4 lb. butter and 2 cups flour Beat well. Add eggs and yeast, blending well.
  • Step 3
    Set aside to rise until spongy and bubbly. Add remaining flour, mix into soft dough.
  • Step 4
    Grease with butter let rise punch down and let rise again.
  • Step 5
    Roll out into 1/2 inch thickness, cut dough into circles using biscuit cutter. Place on greased sheet leaving space between each.
  • Step 6
    Let rise, press small hole in center of each circle. Fill with preserves.
  • Step 7
    Let rise. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes. Makes 5 or 6 dozen
