  • 2 pkg
    active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c
    warm water
  • 1 tsp
  • 4 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    warm water
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp

How to Make Amish Soft Pretzels


  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water(105 degrees-115 degrees).Add salt and flour.
  2. Knead till smooth.
  3. Cover with cloth and let rise 15 minutes.
  4. Divide dough into 16 parts.
  5. Roll each piece into narrow rolls and shape into a pretzel.
  6. Mix 1/2 cup water and 2 teaspoon soda.
  7. Dip each pretzel into soda solution and sprinkle with salt.
  8. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes till golden brown.
