active dry yeast
1 1/2 c
warm water
1 tsp
salt
4 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 c
warm water
2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
salt

How to Make Amish Soft Pretzels

Step-by-Step

  • 1Dissolve yeast in warm water(105 degrees-115 degrees).Add salt and flour.
  • 2Knead till smooth.
  • 3Cover with cloth and let rise 15 minutes.
  • 4Divide dough into 16 parts.
  • 5Roll each piece into narrow rolls and shape into a pretzel.
  • 6Mix 1/2 cup water and 2 teaspoon soda.
  • 7Dip each pretzel into soda solution and sprinkle with salt.
  • 8Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes till golden brown.
