This is a easy and awesome recipe. It is just as good if not better than the Jiffy Brand without any preservatives. Simply yummmmmmy.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4-6 tablespoons sugar, adjust to your sweetness liking
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk, your preference
  • 1 - large egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

How To Make simple sweet cornbread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add wet ingredients and whisk till smooth about 30 seconds
  • Step 2
    Pour batter into a greased 8 inch square pan and bake about 21 minutes. That's it.
  • Step 3
    Variations: for corn muffins, pour batter into lined muffin cups and bake about 16 minutes
