Maxine is my cousin...and she is a mighty fine cook. I love Bran Muffins...but I always add raisins or currants to mine.

Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cups pure bran
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 cup dark molasses
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
How To Make maxine's dark moist bran muffins

Step 1Combine flour, bran, sugar, salt, and soda. Mix well.

Step 2combine buttermilkd, egg, molassses and butter.

Step 3Add all at one to dry ingredients.

Step 4Stir enough to moisten flour mixture.

Step 5Fill GREASED muffin cups 2/3 full.

Step 6Bake at 350* for 20 to 25 mintues.

Step 7Makes about 24 muffins.

Step 8This is what I have done to the recipe. I add a cup of raisins or other dried fruit or candies orange peel. I coat the muffin cups with Lecithin Vegetable Oil and add a tablespoon of honey or more (depend how big the muffin cups are). Then I add the bran muffin mix and bake. It give the bran muffins a wonderful glaze of honey...
