mama's banana bread
This recipe was one of my favorites passed down from my mother. Whether on a rainy day with a hot cup of warm cocoa, or waking up to eat for breakfast, this bread is an instant classic!

Depends on how thick the slices are cut..and how long it lasts! =)
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 cup mashed bananas (2 medium ripe bananas)
- 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped (optional)
How To Make mama's banana bread

Step 1Preheat oven to 350*. Grease and flour 9x5 loaf pan. In large bowl, use a whisk and mix all dry ingredients.

Step 2With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs. With a fork, stir in mashed bananas & eggs until blended. (Also add nuts here if desired).

Step 3Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake 55 minutes to 1 hour until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
