I have been making this wonderful cornbread for a few years now and its always a hit. I even have it as a late night snack with a cold glass of milk from time to time.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2-1 cup cracklins, roughtly chopped, opt.

How To Make corn bread

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl mix together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix in milk, egg and butter.
  • Step 2
    Pour into a small greased sheet pan. Bake at 425 degreese until golden brown.
  • Step 3
    I often bake mine in a small cast iron pan.
