I have been making this wonderful cornbread for a few years now and its always a hit. I even have it as a late night snack with a cold glass of milk from time to time.

  • 3/4 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/3 c
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 c
    milk or buttermilk
  • 1 large
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 1/2-1 c
    cracklins, roughtly chopped, opt.

How to Make Corn Bread


  1. In a large bowl mix together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix in milk, egg and butter.
  2. Pour into a small greased sheet pan. Bake at 425 degreese until golden brown.
  3. I often bake mine in a small cast iron pan.
