These are delicious for any occasion. I use the same dough to make my Pecan Cinnamon Rolls. Check out that recipe too. It's guaranteed to satisfy. :)

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Flaky, soft, and buttery, these fresh dinner rolls might outshine any main dish. Easy to prepare, they smell amazing while baking. Add a pat of butter, and they just melt in your mouth. We bet you can't just eat one.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 C cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 4 - 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

How To Make sweet & fluffy dinner rolls

  • Milk, butter, salt, and sugar cooling in a bowl.
    Step 1
    Bring milk to a boil and remove from heat immediately. Add butter, salt, and sugar. Mix in well. Set aside to cool to lukewarm.
  • Warm water, yeast, milk mixture, beaten egg, and flour combined.
    Step 2
    Mix warm water and yeast. Mix until yeast dissolves. Add milk mixture and beaten egg. Mix until smooth. Add half of the flour. Mix until smooth then add remaining flour.
  • Kneading dough.
    Step 3
    Turn out on a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  • Dough rising in a greased bowl.
    Step 4
    Place the dough into a buttered bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 1/2 hours in a warm place. I use the microwave. It's small and there are no drafts.
  • Dough formed into balls and rising.
    Step 5
    Punch down the dough and shape it into 12 even balls. Place in a buttered baking pan. Cover and let rise an hour.
  • Baking the dinner rolls.
    Step 6
    Bake at 375 F until nicely browned, about 15 minutes.
  • Brushing the baked rolls with melted butter.
    Step 7
    Brush with melted butter immediately and let rest for 5 minutes.
