Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large orange rind
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts for top
How To Make orange date nut bread by deedee robertson

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2in a large bowl, cream sugar and butter .

Step 3Add eggs one at at time, beating after ea. blend flour, salt, baking soda, sift together.

Step 4Add buttermilk and orange juice alternately to egg mixture.

Step 5Fold in orange rind, nuts and daters which have been dredged w/flour to the batter.

Step 6pour into greased and floured pan, making one angel cake pan or 2 loaf pans.

Step 7bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Step 8remove from the oven. Let cool for 20 min. and turn out on rack

Step 9while still warm, pour a glaze of 1 grated orange rind, 1 c. sugar, 1c. orange juice heated until sugar dissolves, over cakes top and sides.
