This was one of my favorite recipes my mom made when I was growing up. I have used pecans instead of walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1/3 c
    butter, melted
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3
    bananas, very ripe
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts, chopped

How to Make Mama's Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, Mach the bananas until smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  3. Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  4. Stir in the sugar, egg and vanilla.
  5. Mix in the flour. Then stir in the nuts.
  6. Pour into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until done. A toothpick inserted into the middle should come out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack. When cooled, remove from the pan and slice.
