This delicious recipe came from my mom. It's good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Believe me, it won't be around for long. In my house, it's scarfed up in a day. There seems to be a lot of steps, but this recipe is easy to prepare. Enjoy!

Ingredients

2 c
all purpose flour-sifted
1 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
salt
3/4 c
butter
1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
2
eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla
1 lb
pitted dates, chopped
1/2 c
pecans, chopped
1 c
heavy cream, whipped or spread with some good butter

How to Make Delicious Date Loaf -Connie's

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Line the bottom of a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan with waxed paper.
  • 3Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • 4In a mixing bowl, cream butter with brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 5Add beaten eggs to creamed mixture.
  • 6Dissolve soda in milk.
  • 7Add soda mixture and vanilla to creamed mixture.
  • 8Add chopped dates and nuts to FLOUR mixture.
  • 9Stir flour, date and nut mixture into creamed ingredients. Mix well.
  • 10Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • 11Bake 50-60 minutes or until done.
  • 12Cool in pan 5 minutes.
  • 13Remove from pan and cool thoroughly on wire rack.
  • 14Once cooled, slice loaf and serve with whipped cream or butter.
  • 15Enjoy!
