My husband and I love Mexican food but I don't care for the store bought flour tortillas as they are too thick. We often eat tortillas as bread with any meal,right off the grill and buttered,so good!

Ingredients

  • - 2 c flour
  • - 1/2 t. salt
  • - 1/4 t. baking powder
  • - 1/4 c vegetable shortening
  • - 1/2 c warm water

How To Make steph's flour tortillas

  • Step 1
    Mix flour,salt and baking powder.Add shortening,cut in until crumbly.Add warm water,mix into a ball. Knead,until the ball is smooth. Let sit 10-15 mins. Make several balls(whatever size you want the tortillas to be,roll out as thin as possible.Place on a hot griddle and cook about 30 secs on each side.Cover with a tea towel while cooking tortillas
