Grandma's Country White Bread
How to Make Grandma's Country White Bread
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, eggs, oil, and 3 cups of flour, beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour,( I use about 6 1/2 cups) to form a soft dough.
- Turn onto a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. Place in a well greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let stand (rise) in a warm place until doubled about 1 hour.
- Punch dough down. (Use fingers to deflate dough, not your fist.) Divide dough in half and shape into 2 loaves. Place into 2 greased 9x5 loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
