Ingredients
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup nuts
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 teaspoon orange peel
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How To Make date nut bread

Step 1Heat oven to 350. Grease bottom only 8x4 loaf pan. In a large bowl, beat sugar, margarine until light and fluffy. Add eggs, blend well.

Step 2In a small bowl, combine, nuts baking powder, baking soda and salt; well. Add to buttermilk mixture; stir just dry ingredients are moistened. Add dates & orange peel to mixture. Pour into greased loaf pan.

Step 3Bake 350 for 55 to 65 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator.
