Ingredients
- - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- - 1/4 cup sugar
- - 3 teaspoons baking powder
- - 1/4 teaspoon salt
- - 1/4 cup butter
- - 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- - 1/2 cup buttermilk
- - 1 egg
- - 1 cup powdered sugar
- - 2 - 3 tablespoons orange juice
- - 2 teaspoons grated orange rind
How To Make cranberry orange scones
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Cut butter in with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Step 2Stir in cranberries and orange peel. In a small bowl mix buttermilk and egg. Add to dry ingredients all at once, stirring until mixture is just moistened.
-
Step 3On a floured board, knead gently a few times, but not too much. Form into a patty on an ungreased cookie sheet and cut into 8 wedges with a knife. After cutting into wedges do not move the wedges, leave in the shape of a patty or circle as you originally formed it on cookie sheet.
-
Step 4Bake at 400 degrees for 15 - 25 minutes or until light golden. Mix together powdered sugar and orange juice into a glaze and drizzle over scones.
-
Step 5Seperate the scones and serve warm.
