Ingredients

  • - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • - 1/4 cup sugar
  • - 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • - 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • - 1/4 cup butter
  • - 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • - 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • - 1 egg
  • - 1 cup powdered sugar
  • - 2 - 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • - 2 teaspoons grated orange rind

How To Make cranberry orange scones

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Cut butter in with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step 2
Stir in cranberries and orange peel. In a small bowl mix buttermilk and egg. Add to dry ingredients all at once, stirring until mixture is just moistened.
  • Step 3
On a floured board, knead gently a few times, but not too much. Form into a patty on an ungreased cookie sheet and cut into 8 wedges with a knife. After cutting into wedges do not move the wedges, leave in the shape of a patty or circle as you originally formed it on cookie sheet.
  • Step 4
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 - 25 minutes or until light golden. Mix together powdered sugar and orange juice into a glaze and drizzle over scones.
  • Step 5
Seperate the scones and serve warm.
