corn bread
I grew up on beans and cornbread, as did my Mom. This recipe was her grandmother's. It goes well with just about anything. I'll post a pic next time I make one.

Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon (heaping) crisco
How To Make corn bread

Step 1In a mixing bowl combine dry ingredients. Add egg and milk, mix well. In a 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet melt a heaping tablespoon of Crisco. Coat pan with shortening and pour into batter. Stir well, and pour batter in skillet. Bake in a 400 oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Allow to cool a bit and turn onto serving plate, cut in wedges and enjoy.
