Ingredients

1/2 c
buttery crisco
2 c
sugar
4 c
all-purpose flour
2
eggs
1 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
2 c
buttermilk
1 c
golden raisins (optional)

TOPPING

1/2 c
flour
1/2 c
sugar
1-2 tsp
cinnamon (optionl)
4 Tbsp
butter cold
3/4 c
chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make BOB's BABKA

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream Crisco with sugar and eggs. Beat smooth
  • 2Sift the dry ingredients.
    Alternately add the buttermilk and flour mixture to the creamed mixture and beat.
  • 3Place in 2 loaf pans
  • 4Crumble the topping mixture together with a fork (or your hands) until it holds together.
    Place on top of the babkas in the pans.
  • 5Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, or until center is baked (not doughy.
