Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    buttery crisco
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 c
    golden raisins (optional)
  • TOPPING

  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1-2 tsp
    cinnamon (optionl)
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter cold
  • 3/4 c
    chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make BOB's BABKA

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream Crisco with sugar and eggs. Beat smooth
  2. Sift the dry ingredients.
    Alternately add the buttermilk and flour mixture to the creamed mixture and beat.
  3. Place in 2 loaf pans
  4. Crumble the topping mixture together with a fork (or your hands) until it holds together.
    Place on top of the babkas in the pans.
  5. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes, or until center is baked (not doughy.
