How To Make apple scones
-
1Heat oven to 220C or 200C fan. Put flour, baking powder and butter into food processor & give a whiz til it looks like fine crumbs (or do manually with fingers or hand blender). Add sugar and cinnamon. Tip into a bowl, add apple and give everything a mix. (Do not be tempted to put apple through processor.. you want some nice apple chunks in your scone)
-
2Mix egg with milk. Pour into dry ingredients and stir in quickly to make a soft dough. Do not over-handle. Tip onto a floured surface; pat out to 3cm deep.
-
3Dip a 6cm cutter into some flour then cut out scones, flouring the cutter each time. Squash offcuts lightly back into a round and repeat until all dough is used up. Brush tops with a little milk then place on to a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 mins until risen and golden. Allow to cool on the tray. Best served warm with blackberry jam!
