I have been making these for years. Love the texture the oatmeal gives it. Hubs however doesn't care for the raisins.:-(

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups regular oatmeal 1 1/4 cups if using quick oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins or currents

How To Make tina's scottish oat scones

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Sift flour, sugar, Baking powder, Cr of tartar and salt.
  • Step 2
    Mix beaten egg and milk into melted butter
  • Step 3
    Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredient along with the raisins. Dough will be very soft and sticky.
  • Step 4
    Pour into the greased cookie sheet and form into an 8 inch circle. With knife cut into 8 pieces and with knife push the wedges apart on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle with additional sugar if desired. Bake 12- 15 minutes.
