Ingredients

  • 4 c
    sifted flour
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    shortening
  • ·
    enough milk to make it the consistency of biscuit dough

How to Make INDIAN FRY BREAD BY JANET

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift flour with baking powder. Mix in shortening.
  2. Add enough milk to make a dough the consistency of biscuits.
  3. Kneed the dough well as for yeast bread, Divide dough in half and roll each to the size of a pie crust. It will be thicker than pie crust.
  4. Cut each half into four pieces. Fry it in an iron skillet in hot melted fat, at least four inches deep.
