cornmeal cheddar biscuits

Everyone in my family gave these a "thumbs up." Definitely what we consider a "do over!"

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1/2 cup self-rising buttermilk corn meal
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk (buttermilk is great in this!)

How To Make cornmeal cheddar biscuits

  • Step 1
    In a bowl, combine dry ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Cut in butter until crumbly
  • Step 3
    Stir in cheese and milk.
  • These are light, cheesy biscuits with a bit of heartiness in the cornmeal.
    Step 4
    Drop by serving spoon (about 1/4 cup) onto a sprayed baking sheet. Bake at 450 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
