Ingredients
- DOUGH
- 2 cups ultragrain flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 4 teaspoons dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons dark molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 cup wine
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice, ground
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- TOPPING
- - white sugar, for sprinkling
- - poppy seeds, for sprinkling
- - water or milk
How To Make spiced wine molasses biscuits

Step 1Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Dump out onto a floured surface.

Step 2Knead for about 1-3 minutes. Press out to 3/4 inch thickness.

Step 3Cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Take remnants and re-press to 3/4 inch again. Keep cutting until all is used.

Step 4Place on greased cookie sheets. Wet tops with water and apply toppings. You may prefer to wet with milk, optionally. Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes. While preheating your oven to 425F.

Step 5Bake for 7-9 minutes.
